land acknowledgment

land acknowledgment

At la house, we are proud to be based in Lawrence, MA. The vibrant, textured community we have found here has been pivotal to our journey and we are inspired endlessly by the stories of our city. In the spirit of honoring the land on which we live and work, we’d like to acknowledge the spiritual and physical connection the Pennacook, Abenaki, and Wabanaki Peoples have maintained to N’dakinna, the land upon which Lawrence sits.

The greater Lawrence area was once a major Pennacook settlement along the Merrimack River (Mol8demak – “deep water”). The Aln8bak, the Indigenous original human beings, ask you to acknowledge the hardships that they continued to endure for countless generations after the loss of their unceded homelands. They seek your help to foster relationships and opportunities that strengthen the well-being of all living things as we all carry forward the stewardship traditions of their Indigenous ancestors.
